Match the tasks to the age
Paediatric guidance is fairly consistent about what is reasonable at each stage. Three to five: putting toys away, helping set the table, dusting low surfaces. Six to eight: making their own bed, clearing the table, packing a lunch, sorting laundry, feeding a pet. Nine to twelve: vacuuming, helping cook, walking the dog, putting away their own laundry, and from about eleven, changing sheets and loading a dishwasher. Thirteen and up is essentially adult work.
The chart is blank so you can match it to your child. Overloading it is the usual failure: four tasks that get done beats nine that do not.
The chart is the child's
