Why three tiers

A single weekly list mixes jobs that need doing every day with jobs that need doing every few months, and the result is a list too long to face on any given day. Splitting them is the structural fix and it is what every cleaning system that survives contact with a real household does.

The daily strip is short by design: the five to twenty-five minutes of maintenance that stops everything else compounding. The weekly grid is the rotation. The monthly box is where the descaling and the window cleaning live so they stop cluttering the week.

The rotation, and whether to keep it

The days come pre-filled with a common rotation: dusting on Monday, bathrooms Tuesday, kitchen Wednesday, floors Thursday, bedrooms Friday, catch-up Saturday, rest Sunday. It is printed light because it is a suggestion.

The value of any rotation is mostly that it removes the daily decision about what to clean. Which specific day gets the bathrooms matters far less than the fact that it is always the same day.

Zone cleaning

If you have come across zone cleaning, it is a specific system rather than a general phrase: the home is split into five zones and one is worked each week of the month, fifteen timer-bound minutes a day. It sits on top of a weekly schedule rather than replacing it, and the generator has a zone variant with a week-of-month selector.
