Why the headings are printed
A list written in the order the meals were planned makes you walk the shop three times and buy things twice. A list grouped by department lets you walk it once.
The conventional grouping is produce, dairy and eggs, meat and fish, bread and grains, pantry, frozen, and household. Writing each item into its department as you plan is barely more effort than writing it in a line, and it removes the sorting pass you would otherwise do standing in an aisle.
Half Letter is the right size for this one
It fits a pocket, it survives a shop, and two of them print on one Letter sheet at exactly 100% with no waste. If you shop weekly, one sheet gives you a fortnight.
The headings are printed light so you can write over them if your shop is laid out differently.
