A matrix, not a list

A meal planner is a grid of meals against days, not a list of seven dinners. Breakfast, lunch and dinner as three rows across seven columns is the standard, and it is standard because it shows you the thing a list hides: that you have planned three elaborate dinners in a row on the days you get home latest.

Snacks as a fourth row is common and optional. The generator has it as a toggle.

The grocery list is sorted by aisle

This is the detail that separates a usable meal planner from a grid. A grocery list written in the order the meals were planned makes you walk the shop three times. A list grouped by department, produce, dairy and eggs, meat and fish, bread, pantry, frozen, household, lets you walk it once.

The headings are printed but not fixed; write over them if your shop is laid out differently.

Theme nights, if you want them

Meatless Monday, Taco Tuesday, pasta on Wednesday and so on sounds like a gimmick and is genuinely useful, because it removes the decision rather than the cooking. Most people who plan meals successfully have some version of it, formal or not.

The generator can pre-fill a rotation onto the day headers. It is off by default, because it is the kind of thing that should be your own.
