The due date column is the whole thing
A homework planner without a due-date column is a to-do list, and a to-do list sorts by whatever order things were remembered in rather than when they are needed. Writing the date down converts a pile into a sequence.
The done column matters too, and specifically the fact that it is a box rather than a line to cross out. Ticking is a different action from striking through, and on a shared or checked sheet it is far easier to read.

The block at the bottom is for the things that are not due this week but will hurt if they are only noticed the week they are due. Essays, exams, projects with several stages.
Carry it forward each week. It is the one part of this sheet that should be rewritten rather than started fresh.
