Two things students confuse, and should not

A class timetable and an assignment tracker are different artifacts and putting them on one sheet is why most student planners fail. A timetable is undated and repeats all term. An assignment tracker is dated and changes every week. Trying to do both on one page means one of them is always wrong.

This sheet is the weekly one: it shows the fixed structure of your week plus whatever is moving this week. Print the class timetable separately, once a term, and pin it up.

Seeing the gaps

The reason to use an hour grid rather than a list is that it makes free time visible. Most students who feel they have no time have several two-hour gaps a week they have never noticed, because a timetable in a phone shows you what is booked, not what is not.

Fill in the fixed things first: classes, work shifts, commitments. What is left is your actual study capacity for the week, and it is usually either more or considerably less than expected. Either way, knowing is better.

A note on the sizes

A5 and Half Letter suit a ring binder or a bag; Letter and A4 suit a wall or a desk. If you are printing at home and cutting, Half Letter halves a Letter sheet exactly with no waste, which is the cheapest way to run a weekly sheet all term.
