Planning for more than one person

Most weekly planners assume one calendar. A household has several, and they collide: the dentist appointment that clashes with a pickup, the evening that already had two things in it, the week where three people need the car.

The horizontal layout gives each day a full-width row rather than a narrow column, which is what you need when a Tuesday has four entries belonging to three people. Names go at the start of the line and the entries stay readable.

Meals on the same sheet

Meal planning and week planning fail separately and work together. The meal strip is on this sheet because the question "what are we eating Thursday" is usually answered by looking at what else is happening on Thursday.

If you want a proper meal planner with a grocery list sorted by supermarket aisle, that is a separate sheet and it is worth having. This one is the quick version that lives alongside everything else.

Print it where people can see it

A household planner only works if it is visible to the household. Half Letter fits a fridge without dominating it; Letter or A4 works pinned in a kitchen or hallway. The files are ink-light by design, with rules at 20% grey rather than black, so printing one every week is not expensive.
